Pope Benedict XVI Visits the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center
On April 17, 2008, the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center will be visited by the successor to Peter, Pope Benedict XVI. On his first visit to the United States, the Holy Father has selected the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center as the site for his interreligious dialogue. This visit is significant in that it is the Holy Father’s wish to meet with leaders of the world’s faith community to speak to the importance of continuing the work of his mentor and predecessor Pope John Paul II.
In 2006, the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center focused its mission on interreligious dialogue and outreach. Since that time, significant conferences and dialogues have been held under its sponsorship. These interactions have led religious leaders around the world to believe that the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center is the ideal location for candid conversation and discovery of commonalities. The Holy Father’s visit to the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center validates our mission and our promise.
All communications regarding this visit are being handled by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, through the Secretary of Communications at 202-541-3200.
