Hands of Peace

Our hands reveal a lot about our faith. From the clasping of hands in prayer to holding rosaries and prayer books to being instruments that we can offer in service to others, our hands are weathered with a record of our daily journey towards Christ.

To all of the countries that the Holy Father visited, he has brought a unique message of hope. He has touched many as they embarked on their exploration of faith and culture. It is from these visits that the hands of peace were taken and from Pope John Paul II himself. Each bronze casting includes the person's name, country of origin, occupation and a personal quotation about their faith. The castings not only reflect the journey of faith, the hesitation of what to say to others who are also searching and the cultural dignity of offering one hand over the other, but they are a symbol of our living faith, welcoming each and every visitor to search and discover how faith has impacted them.

"God of peace, gift for all of humanity, come to live in the heart of every individual and every family. Be our peace and our joy!"

-Pope John Paul II
