The Holy Land Through the Eyes of Explorers

Don't miss our special exhibit The Holy Land Through the Eyes of Explorers, a rare glimpse into the Middle East as it looked in the early part of the 20th century. Sponsored by Our Sunday Visitor Institute, it features 34 documentary photographs taken on archeological expeditions to Palestine (Israel), the West Bank and Gaza, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sinai, the Negev, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey.

The images show people, places, monuments and landscapes in a climate and geography that had changed little since biblical times. Part of a larger collection of 20,000 prints from l'École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem, they constitute a compelling record of the history of the people and young nations of the Middle East. The exhibit is on display through May 26.
