In the Gallery of Mary, large images of Mary give visitors the opportunity
to view her through the eyes of people in different countries who have
come to revere her. Here, visitors encounter the Center's messages of
outreach, hospitality and inclusiveness through icons that display exceptional,
multicultural images of the Blessed Virgin.
As visitors walk
through each doorway, they examine different interpretations of her
status as a beacon of the Catholic faith, while listening to the hymn
Immaculate Mary. Textual descriptions convey her influence and impact
upon the culture, and speak to the power of her importance to the Catholic
faith. The exhibit illustrates the enduring influences of Mary throughout
the world.
In this same gallery
visitors also find the Family Mural, a large curving, translucent wall
with life-sized images portraying the many faces of the Catholic Church.
The mural's inspiration comes from Pope John Paul II, who has changed
the perception of the faces of Catholics throughout the world.
