Gallery of Wonder

At times the path of science seems to complicate faith and at others it seems complimentary. The Gallery of Wonder is a place to explore both how and when the path of science has crossed with that of faith.

By addressing the moral and ethical questions that have arisen through the pursuit of science, the gallery expands upon the teachings of the Catholic Church. It is here that visitors realize their relationship with the world around them and see how it can be brought into harmony by combining science and faith.

What are the differences between the Biblical accounts of creation and the current scientific thinking? Through technology, the Gallery of Wonder provides visitors with the interactive tools to answer this question and many other questions that have captured our curiosity, while exploring the very relationship between religion and technology. The interactive tools further each visitor's awareness of how people have tried to answer these questions throughout history.

"The First Sin" introduces the concepts of free will and the original sin, which forms the basis for a group activity "Finding Harmony." Here visitors evaluate the moral dilemma and ethical implications posed by different uses of technology.

Visitors continue their interactive experience with "A Wider View of Things," an exciting portrayal of the longstanding relationship between the Church and science, which reveals the tremendous impact that the Church has made on scientific discovery, exploration and preservation.

The "Testimonials of Hope" allow visitors to offer their own view of our world and its future. This interactive exhibit allows visitors to document their own vision and hopes for the world. What will the world be like in 100 or 1,000 years? Visitors can even appraise the predictions and hopes that others have left.
